In the hollow belly of Copper Mountain Community Center evacuated firehouse, friends recorded counter-balanced communications during a heat wave. 108 degrees. Recordings took place during early mornings and evenings until the water and ice from the cooler evaporated.
“Citrus Beach” written by Tan Cologne is a song about an imagined beach full of Jacaranda and citrus trees facing Channel Islands and the staircase you must travel down to get there.
“Maybelline” written by Earl Vallie is a song about an awe inspiring Californian sunset named Maybelline, as witnessed through the transparent walls of a midwestern dive bar (cold drink wrapped in orange foam insulating koozie) and the portals you must travel to arrive there.
All friends (Lauren Green, Marissa Macias, Earl Vallie, John Nielsen) performed on each other’s songs, forming a unique convergence and parallel meltdown. “Sound Mirage From A Desert Community Dispatch” is rare time capsule that has been waiting to emerge from the Mojave sand.
